We have clinics in Stoke on Trent, Northwich and Bury St Edmunds and also deliver services on customers’ own sites and through our specialist screening van. Our services are tailored to the needs of the individual employee. We have customers in a wide range of public and private sectors including manufacturing, retail, education, local government, housing associations, the Police and fire & rescue services. Our Management Team

John

John

John is the managing director of Hobson Health. He is a fully accredited specialist in occupational medicine with over twenty-five years’ experience in occupational health. John has worked for a number of blue-chip companies, including ten years with the leading global blue-chip manufacturer Michelin as their chief medical officer and head of health, safety and environment. He holds appointments as the chief medical officer and medical director for a number of businesses and organisations. In addition to having broad clinical experience spanning many work sectors (including automotive, manufacturing, ceramics, chemical, rail, education and local authorities) John is a lecturer at the universities of Keele, Manchester and Birmingham. He is the lead editor of Fitness For Work sixth edition (the occupational physician’s bible) and was editor of the international scientific journal, Occupational Medicine from 2002 until 2018. He has authored numerous articles in Occupational Medicine including a number of original research papers as well as articles in many other health journals and publications. He was also one of the authors of Good Occupational Medical Practice which interprets the General Medical Council guidelines for occupational health doctors. Rachel

Rachel

Rachel is the medical director of Hobson Health. Rachel originally developed an interest in occupational health within her career as a GP but is now a fully accredited specialist in occupational medicine. She has gained a broad range of clinical experience, working for Hobson health since 2009 and within the construction, ceramics, rail, education, local authorities, teaching, manufacturing and automotive. She is an HSE appointed Doctor for lead, asbestos as well as ionising radiation. She is an ORR accredited Doctor for rail safety critical work and is also an OGUK Doctor. She is able to undertake tier 4 HAVS assessments, with a recognised FOM qualification. She acts as an IRMP for several pension schemes including the LGPS. She was awarded the Mobbs Travelling Fellowship in 2013 resulting in a trip to Australia gaining further health and safety experience.

Her role as medical director of Hobson Health means that she has been involved in setting up and leading a large health surveillance program for respirable crystalline silica liaising with employers as well as the HSL. She has published an original research paper and also reviewed both books and clinical questionnaires for the Society of Occupational Medicine Journal. Her role as a recognised educational and clinical supervisor ensures she is teaching and training the next generation of occupational health professionals. Her most recent non-medical achievement was running the London Marathon 2018 for charity and as she recognises the importance of health and wellbeing within her own working life.
